Our First Team Trail Event in
History!
Redfield!
We held our first ever Team trail
event on Redfield Reservoir this past Sunday. While
participation was limited to just four teams we had a great
day, with lots of skinny bass. We always have room for
additional teams, look at the schedule page for dates and
rules. We also want to welcome some new friends, Josh
VanCourt and his buddy Josh (Team Josh). Next event is on
Oneida in August, hope to see you there!
Spring Shotgun Raffle
WINNER!
We had the drawing for our annual
Spring Raffle drawing on Sunday June 26th. The winner was Al
Salisbury of Rome.
Proceeds from this event support
our 6-man Team, who will be competing this August on Oneida
Lake in the NY Bass Federation Club Team Championship.
Thanks for your support!
Williams takes 1st at Oneida Lake Tourney

A storm was brewing Sunday morning on Oneida, literally! We
arrived at the ramp faced with dark clouds, flashes of
lightning and the rumble of thunder. Tournament Director Al
Salisbury held everyone in the parking lot to assess the
situation. It was determined we would move forward with the
tournament.
Well it didn't seem like the storm upset the fishing AT ALL!
Almost every angler of the 22 competing Sunday came to the
scales with fat bass. If I hadn't know it was August 2nd I
would have thought the fall bite was on. The smallies were
hard hitting, hard fighting, and FAT. Overall it was a
banner day!
First place was won by John Williams with a bag weighing
15.74 anchored by the lunker, a 4.81 largemouth. Second
place went to Scott Sprol with a five fish limit weighing
15.55 lbs, third place winner was Tim Vaile with a limit
weighing in at 15.15 lbs, and 4th place was won by
Tournament Director Al Salisbury with 5 fish weighing 13.04
lbs.
Bad Hair Day?

Hey, look what I found surfing the web?
Looks similar, but really can't tell.
Butterfield Tournament 6/28/09

While discussing the morning's
activities, Mark Batur was ribbing me about shaking the
"Salisbury Curse" and whether we had to sacrifice a chicken
or something to get the "bad mojo" off my boat, the one I
bought last year from Al. At last year's Butterfield event I
was still having motor issues and couldn't get it up on
plane, a curse which seemed to follow me all season long....
Well,
the curse is broken! The boat is running 100%
and I also made a few corrections to some "rookie" mistakes
I was making,
which also plagued me at Butterfield last year, and presto!
VICTORY AT LAST!
Not that I'm superstitious or anything, but all I can say is
it's about time! Well, back to the facts...
The Butterfield Lake event was
much more pleasant, warm temperatures, clear skies, gentle
breeze, except when the breeze stopped it was HOT!
First place was won by Mike Sudol
with 10.65 lbs, anchored by a 3.60 lbs largemouth that also
was lunker. Second place, same as 2008, was Rick Kidston
with 8.64 lbs, and third place went to newcomer Joe Loomis
with a five fish bag weighing in at 8.54 lbs.
Next points tournament will be on
Champlain out of Ticonderoga, NY on July 17th. We will be
starting our Team Trail on July 12th on Redfield. See you at
the next one! Mike
Brad Ostrander takes "Sandy
Pond" Tournament!

You have all heard the phrase "Close but no cigar", well
that was the way it was with first place. Brad came in with
a monster bag of fish, 18.94 lbs! (before a 1 fish penalty).
The current creel record of 19 lbs 1 oz still stands,
brought in by JT Mattews out of Henderson arbor.
The day was picture perfect with a slight breeze, clear
skies, warm temperatures, that is if you made it out to the
bug lake. The weather similar inside the pond, just NO
BREEZE, HOT, and clear skies. Some fished the pond, some
flew to another time-zone!
Lunker was brought in by Al Salisbury, which is also Lunker
of the Year, so far......
We're off tot he CTC this week! Good Luck CAMDEN!
RECORDS BROKEN AT CHAUMONT BAY!

A long standing club record fell not only once, but
twice this past Sunday afternoon at Chaumont Bay. Rich Tehan
broke the old club record of 19 lbs 1 oz, from Henderson
Harbor with a nice bag weighing in at 19.28 lbs, anchored
with the days lunker, a whopping 5.4o lb small mouth.
Problem is Rich didn't get the stand ovation he deserved
because moments earlier Mark Batur broke the record with a
Tommy Fucillo "HUGE" bag of 21.38 lbs! And amazingly that
didn't include the lunker for the day!
Great day overall, calm, clear weather, the perfect fall
day. That concludes our points trail for 2009. Angler of the
Year is once again Brad Ostrander. Congratulations!
